Frankfurt-based Data center operator maincubes has begun construction of the new high-performance Data center in Frankfurt/Offenbach. The first step – breaking the ground – is being carried out. Thanks to the mild winter and the warm weather, the power supply work and the construction of the foundations will take place immediately afterwards.
A Data center in a league of its own
The maincubes Data center is taking shape on a site of almost 5,600 square metres in Offenbach, around 4 kilometres from the metropolis of Frankfurt am Main and thus in the immediate vicinity (approx. 800 metres) of one of the biggest internet exchanges (DE-CIX) in Germany. maincubes one Data center is a Data center in the tier III category, which is due to be completed in 2017. maincubes one targets considerable improvement of the relationship between performance and economic viability thanks to a novel combination of technology and architecture, which functions without disruptive pillars or walls, to name just one aspect. The new maincubes one Data center achieves considerably greater efficiency than classic Data centers. Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of less than 1.35 with output of up to 2 kilowatts per square metre is guaranteed for customers.
