maincubes, a European provider of data centers, and Stadtwerke Göttingen AG have signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with a capacity of 34 megawatts peak (MWp). The PPA agreement has a term of ten years and provides for the supply of pure solar power. The contract is an important milestone in maincubes’ sustainability strategy. The solar energy comes from plants south of Göttingen. Stadtwerke Göttingen has been pursuing a sustainability strategy since 2013 and was awarded the title of "Top Local Supplier" for the eighth time in 2024. The utility company is regarded as a reliable, flexible and committed partner in the region.
maincubes pursues a pioneering sustainability strategy that is characterized by a large number of measures. First and foremost is the EMAS registration (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme), with which maincubes demonstrates its environmental commitment to the outside world in a trustworthy and transparent manner. At the same time, flexible adaptation of the infrastructure environment in line with customer requirements is a top priority at maincubes. This is also the context for the planned third data center in the Rhine-Main region (FRA03). In addition, maincubes is pressing ahead with the expansion of its PPA contracts and is holding intensive talks and negotiations with other renewable energy producers.
maincubes has strict standards and is sustainably positioned for the future
The fact that sustainability is not just a goal at maincubes, but a central component of its corporate strategy, is also demonstrated by the promotion of environmentally friendly projects, such as the use of hydropower in the Netherlands and the construction of wind turbines in India. The company is also actively involved in the Open Compute Foundation, a network of data center operators, telecommunications and server providers that promotes innovation and more sustainable products.
The maincubes CTO Albrecht Kraas states: "The conclusion of our first PPA contract is a milestone that we are proud of.
