IND-DCA

The Independent Data Center Alliance (IND-DCA), a global network of independent data center and colocation providers, announces its official launch on June 24, 2019 at the International Telecoms Week (ITW) in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. The aim of the initiative is to share resources and increase the data center industry’s visibility on the market. The globally active data center operator maincubes is one of the four founding members and the exclusive representative from Europe. maincubes operates a rapidly growing network of colocation data centers across the European market and is currently active with the data centers FRA01 (Offenbach/Frankfurt, Germany) and AMS01 (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).

Further partners of the Independent Data Center Alliance are the US companies Bluebird Underground, Colocation Northwest, with which maincubes has already entered into a partnership, and DataGryd. The association will be organized by the US agency iMiller Public Relations.

Since its founding in 2012, maincubes, as part of the medium-sized Zech Group in Bremen, Germany, has been committed to national and international involvement in organizations and associations as well as on the establishment and expansion of networks that enable colocation in connection with secure eco-systems.

About the partners

  • Bluebird Underground is a telecommunications company and the operator of an underground data center facility located in Springfield, Montana, in the Midwest of the United States. As part of the Bluebird Network, the facility is situated in a cave carved out of natural limestone and offers ultra-modern infrastructure, guaranteeing protection against natural disasters and other operational disruptions.
  • Colocation Northwest, part of IsoFusion Inc, is one of the largest private internet service providers and colocation providers within the area of Seattle, Washington, comprising eight data centers in the Northwest of the United States. Colocation Northwest delivers everything from large enterprise data centers to smaller facilities located in the communities they serve. Since March 2019, maincubes and Colocation Northwest have been working together to be even closer to customers worldwide.
  • DataGryd is a premium data center provider operating one of New York City’s most internationally renowned data hubs under the 60 Hudson Street The company offers more than 5,500 square meters of colocation services with a state-of-the-art infrastructure for power supply and cooling systems as well as comprehensive networking for companies in the New York City business hub.

Cooperation and Increased Opportunities
According to the Global Colocation Report 2019 by Structural Research, the global data center colocation and interconnection (DCI) market totaled 39 billion US dollars in 2018. In 2019, the market is expected to grow by 10.4 percent and reach a volume of 44 billion US dollars. If the industry continues to expand at this rate, the market will reach 70 billion US dollars in 2024. In response to the growing demand and to create higher awareness, IND-DCA aims to facilitate collaboration between providers and offer its members easier access to resources and services such as marketing services. The initiative’s partners can share competences and benefit from synergy effects in order to be more successful in this highly competitive market. Through a roadmap and go-to-market plan, the Independent Data Center Alliance is helping to promote new corporate brands, generate new customers, share distribution channels as well as resources, meet industry partners and speak at events, among other things.

"Given the future challenges with the Internet of Things (IoT) and the shift to disruptive business models, operators of colocation data centers must also keep up with this change. Consequently, they must work more closely together and build eco-systems in which the individual members benefit from each other," says Oliver Menzel, CEO of maincubes. "We have actively promoted the founding of the initiative because we have recognized the development in the market and intend to contribute to this change. The Independent Data Center Alliance offers exactly the right platform to convince other operators of the idea.“

Made for Professionals
The IND-DCA concept was developed at ITW last year. Independent data center and colocation providers with less than ten locations worldwide can join. Members have the opportunity to obtain various services from a portfolio, e.g. for marketing, sales, research or event planning.  As co-initiator, iMiller Public Relations will manage the initiative. The agency supports start-ups, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as well as Fortune 50 companies and supports the implementation of communication measures.

On Monday, June 24 at 12 pm, the official launch of IND-DCA will take place during a press conference at ITW 2019 in Atlanta, USA. For a free press access please click here.
